What if I can't make it one night? Substitutes and Pre-Bowling

If you are unable to bowl one night, you have two options:

1) You can find a SUBSTITUTE

2) You can Pre-Bowl

Substitutes

If you know of someone who wants to bowl in your place, please let Sean Breen, our Vice President know.

Or, you can post a message on our Facebook Group wall that you need a SUB.

If you find a sub, then you and the sub split the $15 due payment - $7.50/each.

If the substitute has bowled with us before, then their average will be calculated into your team's handicap for the evening - as soon as the sub's name is programmed into the game screen.

If you do NOT find a substitute (and you do not pre-bowl) then your team will have to use your average, minus ten pins/game.

If your team has less than two people bowling, then your team may forfeit.

Pre-bowling

If you are able, pre-bowl before league night!

If you are pre-bowling:

  • You cannot bowl on Saturday Rock and Bowl nights
  • The lanes must alternate like a regular league night
  • A team captain or Board Member must be present.
  • Print out your scores and sign the sheet and hand it to the captain/board member.
  • Do not pay the alley, but please pay your $15 due to the league for the week that you are pre-bowling.

League Rules

These are bowling rules for the league:

  • If it bounces out of the gutter and hits a pin, it does NOT count. You will have to go back to the scoreboard, and amend the score, so as to not include the pin.
  • If you step over the foul line, then XXXXXXX

How does this Handicap Thing Work?

CAPB is a handicap league!

The handicap is determined by:

The difference of 700 pins and the sum of the average of all four bowlers.

For instance:

You have four bowlers on your team, and their averages:

Eve Arden - 150
Imagene Coco - 120
Suzanne Plushette - 155
Gloria Gaynor - 180

The sum of their averages is: 605

700-605 = 95

Their handicap would be: 95

Everyone starts bowling at about the same level. It makes it more fun.

That make sense?

F.A.Qs

What is the "Book Average"?

Book Average is your starting average at the beginning of the season. If you are new to the league, then you will not have a Book Average. Your average will be determined after the first three games.

How late can I be?

You can start bowling and make up the first five frames within the first game.
